Longevity & Cardiovascular Research Tool

Read your blood results through a longevity lens

BioHelm maps your biomarkers against cardiovascular and aging research — so you know where you stand, not just whether you're "normal."

vs.
BioHelm research target Longevity-optimized
0 70 mg/dL 130 200+

Result: Above research-optimal. Context and evidence below.

Meta-analyses including the JUPITER and FOURIER trials suggest cardiovascular event rates continue to fall at LDL levels below 70 mg/dL. This does not mean you have disease — it means the research evidence for additional benefit at lower levels is substantial. Certainty of evidence: High (Cochrane Grade A).

Why it matters

"Normal" means
no disease detected.
It doesn't mean optimal.

Standard reference ranges are designed to catch pathology in a clinical setting. They answer one question: does this patient need treatment today?

Longevity and cardiovascular research asks a harder question: where should biomarkers sit to minimize risk over decades? The answers are often meaningfully different.

"The absence of disease and the presence of health are not the same thing."

Peter Attia, MD — Outlive: The Science and Art of Longevity

BioHelm shows you both thresholds side by side — the lab's cutoff and the research target — along with the evidence quality behind each.

Biomarker depth

The markers standard panels overlook

Most annual blood panels test for LDL cholesterol — a weak predictor of cardiovascular events. BioHelm prioritizes the markers that cardiovascular and longevity research has identified as far more predictive.

Each biomarker in BioHelm comes with a plain-language explanation, the relevant research target, and an honest statement of evidence quality.

On uncertainty

Not all research targets have the same quality of evidence. BioHelm labels each one with a certainty grade — from Grade A (multiple large RCTs) to Grade C (expert consensus, limited trial data). We won't pretend the evidence is stronger than it is.

ApoB Evidence Grade A

Apolipoprotein B — the number of atherogenic particles. More predictive of MACE risk than LDL cholesterol. Target: <70 mg/dL (high risk) or <80 mg/dL (moderate risk).

Lp(a) Evidence Grade A

Lipoprotein(a) — a genetically determined independent cardiovascular risk factor. The European Atherosclerosis Society recommends testing once in a lifetime. Target: <30 nmol/L.

hsCRP Evidence Grade B

High-sensitivity C-reactive protein — an inflammatory marker. The JUPITER trial demonstrated that elevated hsCRP with normal LDL still predicts cardiovascular events. Target: <1.0 mg/L.

HOMA-IR Evidence Grade B

Homeostatic model assessment of insulin resistance — calculated from fasting glucose and insulin. A more sensitive early signal of metabolic dysfunction than HbA1c alone. Target: <1.5.

GGT Evidence Grade C

Gamma-glutamyl transferase — an early marker for oxidative stress and liver metabolic function, predictive of all-cause mortality in several cohort studies. Target: <25 U/L (men), <18 U/L (women).

How BioHelm works

Bring your results.
Get research context,
not a diagnosis.

Upload or enter the values from any blood panel — private lab, HMO, employer screening. BioHelm reads the numbers and maps them against cardiovascular and longevity research.

We don't prescribe. We don't diagnose. We interpret your data in the context of the science, and we show you what the research actually says about where you stand.

Start with my results

Enter results from any lab panel

Private labs, NHS bloods, HMO panels, employer screenings. If it's a standard blood test, BioHelm can read it.

Research targets with evidence grades

Every biomarker target is graded by the quality of evidence behind it — from Grade A (large RCTs) to Grade C (expert consensus). No overclaiming.

Track changes over time

Add multiple test dates and see whether your biomarkers are moving toward or away from research-optimal zones. Trends matter more than single readings.

Private by design — your data stays yours

BioHelm does not sell or share your health data. Results can be stored locally or in an encrypted account. No insurance implications.

Not a replacement for your doctor

BioHelm is an educational and interpretive tool. We make it easy to arrive at your next appointment with better questions — not a self-diagnosis.

The research behind every number

340+ Research papers indexed across cardiovascular and longevity journals
47 Biomarkers supported including specialist markers most panels skip
35x More predictive targets vs. standard lab reference ranges for MACE risk
A–C Evidence grading on every target honest about certainty, not just headlines

"The data from your annual blood test contains far more signal than your doctor has time to discuss."
